The transfer window is the period during the year in which a football team can transfer players either in or out of their playing staff. There is a pre-season and mid-season transfer window. The pre-season window opens from 1 July and closes on 31 August. The mid-season window, which is ongoing, opens on 1 January 2009 and will conclude on 2 Feburary 2009.
