New boys Gangwon start with win
The K-League's newest club Gangwon FC kicked off their first-ever season with a 1-0 win over Jeju United on Sunday.
Yoon Jun-ha squeezed in between two defenders to shoot home the only goal of the game from inside the area in the 28th minute.
"It was a really tough match for us but we shouldn't dwell on this win too much," Gangwon coach Choi Soon-ho said.
"The fans gave us great support and because of them we were able to win this game. Now however it is time to focus on our next match in Seoul on Saturday."
A first-half goal was enough to give Ilja Petkovic a 1-0 win over Busan I'Park in his first game in charge of Incheon United.
Lee Jun-yong headed a cross back across goal for Yoo Byung-soo to head in from close range.
Last season's third-place team Seongnam Ilhwa were held to a 1-1 draw at Daegu FC.
Cho Hyung-ik headed Daegu into an early lead only for Han Dong-won to secure a point for the seven-time champions.
Elsewhere, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors drew 1-1 at Gyeongnam FC while Gwangju Sangmu picked up a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Daejeon Citizen.
FC Seoul are the early leaders after winning 6-1 against Chunnam Dragons on Saturday, while on the same day Pohang Steelers defeated Suwon Samsung Bluewings 3-2.
Ulsan Hyundai Horang-I were not in action in the opening round.
