Champions League Team News
espnstar.com brings you the latest team news for all the Champions League clashes that are set to kick off tonight!
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has three fitness concerns ahead of the Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid at Anfield.
Striker Fernando Torres (ankle) has been in light training for two days, while full-back Alvaro Arbeloa (hamstring) is also close to being involved. Midfielder Yossi Benayoun, however, is almost certainly out with a hamstring injury.
Benitez will give all three every opportunity to prove their fitness for the tie, with Liverpool 1-0 up from the first leg a fortnight ago in the Bernabeu.
Albert Riera is suspended after being booked in the first match.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will give late fitness tests to top scorer Nicolas Anelka and midfielder Deco ahead of the Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with Juventus in Turin.
Anelka has a bruised toe while Deco is struggling with a hamstring tear. Defender Ricardo Carvalho is still not fully recovered from his hamstring problem and is unlikely to start. Michael Essien is fit after six months out with knee ligament damage.
Chelsea are without Joe Cole (knee) and Paulo Ferreira (ligaments) for the rest of the season.
Bianconeri coach Claudio Ranieri will be without defender Nicola Legrottaglie, still suffering with a knee problem sustained in a Serie A win over Napoli nine days ago.
Marco Marchionni has also failed to shake off a knock and joins an injured list including fellow midfielders Mauro Camoranesi and Mohamed Sissoko, out for the rest of the season after breaking his foot in Saturday's derby win over Torino.
With Legrottaglie out, Sweden's Olof Mellberg is likely to line up alongside Giorgio Chiellini in the centre of the Juventus defence.
In another match, Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini has named a 21-man squad for the trip, taking every member of his team except for the injured Gonzalo Rodriguez.
Javi Venta, who missed Saturday`s 1-0 league win over Espanyol through injury, has been included even though he is not 100%, as has third-choice goalkeeper Juan Carlos, while Joan Capdevila and Guille Franco are available after suspension.
In the fourth fixture of the night, Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann is set to make a few alterations to the side that beat Sporting Lisbon 5-0 and he has confirmed he will give a rest to goalkeeper Michael Rensing and not take any risks on the injured trio of Luca Toni, Franck Ribery and Tim Borowski.
Hamit Altintop is also out of the game after picking up an injury in the 5-1 win over Hannover on Saturday.
Jose Ernesto Sosa and Breno should earn rare starts, although Klinsmann believes the 66,000 fans deserve to see their team at their best.
Sporting manager Paulo Bento could rotate his team even more than Klinsmann since Liedson is out and both midfielders Fabio Rochemback and Leandro Romagnoli have not made the trip to Munich.
