Flamengo will meet Botafogo in the Campeonato Carioca title decider after a 1-0 win over arch-rivals Fluminense in the Taca Rio semi-finals.

Juan capitalised on an error by Fluminense keeper Fernando Henrique to score the only goal in the 32nd minute at the Maracana

It was a result that delighted Flamengo captain Fabio Luciano, who is due to retire at the end of the state championship.

"I am very happy. It is a different feeling as I knew a good result would delay my retirement," he said.

"I felt my teammates played for me. They do not want me to give up."

Botafogo trashed Vasco da Gama 4-0 on Saturday to qualify for the Taca Rio final.

If Botafogo defeat Flamengo next weekend, they will automatically be crowned Campeonato Carioca champions, having already won the Taca Guanabara in the first half of the Rio de Janeiro state championship.

However, if Flamengo lift the Taca Rio, they will meet Botafogo again in a two-legged final.
