Cannavaro may return to Juve

Fabio Cannavaro has admitted he could return to Juventus this summer, three years after his controversial decision to leave.

Many Juve fans felt betrayed when Cannavaro left the relegated club for Real Madrid in 2006, but the defender insists he still has a good relationship with Juve officials and would have no problem returning to Turin when his contract with Madrid expires in June.

"I have explained what happened in 2006 many times," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I understand that some people expected me to act differently, but the move to Real Madrid was agreed with the club. That's why my relationship with the new directors and the old directors has still been good.

"I respect the supporters and their opinions, but I hope that things work out."

Cannavaro has been linked with several clubs in recent months, but has said that he does not want to "start from scratch" with a new club at the age of 35, leading him to reject offers in England and Germany.

"I didn't want to start from scratch with the World Cup around the corner, and that is why I turned down Manchester City and Bayern (Munich)," he said.
