Eugene YS Han takes a look at the last ten league meetings between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield.

2008/2009
13-09-2008: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez finally ended his Manchester United hoodoo after his team beat United for the first time in his Anfield career. Liverpool won thanks to an own goal from United defender Wes Brown and Ryan Babel's winner. Nemanja Vidic was sent-off for the Red Devils.

2007/2008
16-12-2007: Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United
For the second season running, a close-range goal in front of the Kop proved enough to give Manchester United victory over Liverpool at Anfield. Whereas John O'Shea's goal in the corresponding fixture the season before, the goal came in stoppage time and spurred United on to the title. This time the first half was nearing its end when Argentine striker Carlos Tevez struck.

2006/2007
03-03-2007: Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United

Liverpool were left stunned by Manchester United after the unlikely figure of John O'Shea scored in the dying minutes to claim all-three points for United. Cristiano Ronaldo's free-kick had been spilled by Jose Reina and the utility player swept the ball home from six yards. It was also a landmark game for Ryan Giggs who celebrated playing his 700th games for United.

2005/2006
18-09-2005: Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

Both teams were trying hard not to lose this match which resulted in a goalless draw for the first time in 31 games between the two sides. Both defences were on top as United's strikers Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy as while as Liverpool's Peter Crouch and Florent Sinama Pongolle were kept quiet throughout the game.

2004/2005
15-01-2005: Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United

Manchester United showed the class and quality required to beat Liverpool both at home and away for the second time in three seasons, but they were also grateful for Jerzy Dudek. Former Everton striker Wayne Rooney captalised on a howler from Dudek to score the only goal of the game. That season, Liverpool lost all their home games against the Top Four.

2003/2004
09-11-2003: Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United

Manchester United claimed their third successive Premiership success over a poor Liverpool side. Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs became the second Manchester United player to score two goals at Anfield for the second straight season. Harry Kewell managed a consolation goal for the Reds.

2002/2003
01-12-2002: Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United

Diego Forlan earned legend status among the Manchester United faithful after he scored two goals in two minutes against Liverpool. Forlan has been derided as a flop signing after failing to find the net regularly for the Red Devils, but he redeemed himself with his decisive contribution at Anfield. In contrast, the real flop was Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek who spilled a back pass, ala Dida, to gift Forlan the first goal.

2001/2002
04-11-2001: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester United

It was a game remembered for John Arne Riise's thunderbolt from 30 yards as well as a superb brace from Liverpool striker Michael Owen. It was also Liverpool's sixth win-in-a-row under temporary manager Phil Thompson. As for Manchester united, it was their third loss in the league before mid-November, and they had already conceded 20 goals. In a rare moment of solidarity from both sets of fans, David Beckham was substituted with applause from both sets of supporters after his heroics for England.

2000/2001
31-03-2001: Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United

Ten-man Liverpool claimed their first double over their arch-rivals since 1979 after two goals from Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler. It was also the first time any team have recorded two league wins over Man United in a single season since Arsenal achieved the feat in 1998. United, who would go on to lift the league title that season, created few chances and struggled to impose themselves in the match without Jaap Stam, Andy Cole and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

1999/2000
11-09-1999: Liverpool 2-3 Manchester United

Manchester United came out tops at Anfield despite only scoring one goal through Andy Cole. Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher put through his own net not once but twice to gift United victory. Amazingly, it was the 13th and 14th own goals scored during that season in the Premier League. United also gave a debut to goalkeeper Massimo Taibi in this game. While he made several great saves, he was at fault with Liverpool's first goal. Sami Hyppia and Patrik Berger scored the goals for Liverpool.
