Barcelona's star wing-back, Daniel Alves wants his teammates to be proud of what they have achieved in the past season.

Alves won the LFP award for 'Best Defender' in the La Liga for the 2008/09 campaign and has been a huge part of Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side last season.

Speaking to Sport, Alves said: "We must be happy, especially for all my colleagues that, while not receiving any awards, were part of the successes that we have. We came here to represent them,"

The Brazilian also made know his thoughts on opposing teams who almost always carry out an ultra defensive formation against the Spanish champions.

He declared: "We're champions and we were born to win. We play well and because we are playing teams decide to defend themselves from Barcelona. Before the teams came with the positive belief that they could win against Barca and are now trying not to lose,

"I feel great and my progress is fantastic. If it continues, I think I will be available to the coach for the next Champions League match,"

Alves is also confident that he will overcome his current injury for the Champions League game next week against Russian side, Rubin Kazan.
