Lens vs Marseille Preview

Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo described victory at Lens as a must if they are going to win the Ligue 1 title this season.

Didier Deschamps' side travel to Lens lying in seventh place in Ligue 1, seeking a seventh victory of the season.

The visitors enter the game with confidence, having drawn 1-1 at AC Milan in midweek in a result which keeps their slender Champions League hopes alive.

Anigo told the club's official website, www.om.net: "I think we can show a good performance in Lens.

"We must do, anyway, because of what we are trying to do, namely to win this championship."

Marseille should expect an intimidating reception, similar to the one visitors to the Stade Velodrome receive.

But Anigo is sure OM have the ability to extend their 10-game unbeaten run.

"We'll go in knowing that we're playing in a stadium just like ours with a public that is completely behind their team," he added.

"This will give them strength, but we have the technical and physical qualities to pass the course."

Stephane Mbia may return from an ankle injury for the contest after taking part in light training this week.

Lens have won two successive matches following a five-match winless streak and sit in 16th place.

Manager Jean-Guy Wallemme expects Lens will have to be at their very best in order to emerge from the contest with even a point.

He said: "It is more a confrontation where we'll have to be at our optimum, even more than usual."

Midfielder Geoffrey Doumeng is missing with a calf problem, while Issam El Adoua has been called up from the reserves.
