Clough hopes to re-sign Vaughan

Derby manager Nigel Clough says he hopes to re-sign Everton striker James Vaughan on loan in January following his recovery from injury.

The 21-year-old had his initial loan deal cut short because of a knee injury he sustained soon after his arrival at Pride Park in mid-September.

But he has had a successful operation and is now back in training with the Premier League club.

Clough told the Derby Telegraph: "We hope to get him down at some point for a training session with us, so he doesn't come in cold in January."

The Rams also have strikers Paul Dickov and DJ Campbell on loan from Leicester but their deals expire in the new year
