Megson sacked: View from the Reebok
Bolton supporter Chris Deary told Eugene YS Han that Gary Megson blamed the fans for 'everything that went wrong'.
Megson was given the boot a day after Bolton threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home with fellow-strugglers Hull City.
After the game, boos rang out at the Reebok as the Bolton faithful showed their unhappiness over Megson. Bolton fan Deary told espnstar.com that the ex-Bolton manager never quite warmed up to the Bolton fans ever since his appointment two years ago.
"Gary Megson failed because he never made any attempt to win over the fans, which meant that when results went badly they were always going to criticise him," said the author of Bolton Wanderers blog - Manny Road.
"Instead of showing some humility and respect to the people who paid his wages, he blamed us for everything that went wrong on the pitch."
Now that the Bolton hotseat is open after Megson's departure, several famous names have been touted to become the new Bolton manager. Ex-Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, Paul Jewell and Darren Ferguson are among names on the growing shortlist. So just what does the new Bolton boss need to succeed at the Reebok?
"Bolton fans do understand that there is a lack of resources and that being our manager is not easy," offered Deary.
"But the next manager must also understand that moaning about that all the time is not the way to win the fans' respect. If the new manager shows some ambition and respect for the club then I think the fans will respect him whatever happens on the pitch."
