Nigeria sacked Shuaibu Amodu on Friday and are reportedly targeting Guus Hiddink to lead the team at the World Cup finals.

Although Nigeria finished a respectable third in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations in Angola, it was always understood that Amodu would be replaced before Nigeria's fourth foray on the world's biggest stage in South Africa.

Nigeria are on a lookout for a big-name coach and other than targeting Hiddink, they have reportedly shortlisted Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal, former Senegal coach Bruno Metsu and former England caretaker coach Peter Taylor.

According to an official statement, the NFF technical committee headed by Taiwo Ogunjobi will recommend that a coach is employed before the end of this month.
