AC Milan's mercurial playmaker Ronaldinho has revealed his team have studied Wayne Rooney's play carefully.

Rooney has been in sensational form in the last few months and scored a brace against Milan in the first leg of the Champions League round-of-16 clash.

Thanks to the Englishman's goals, Manchester United will take to the pitch tonight with a 3-2 lead. Ronaldinho is aware that the super-striker must be stopped at all costs if Milan are to have even a whiff of a chance of turning the tie around.

In comments reported in The Sun, the Brazilian said: "Rooney was incredible in the first match."

However, Milan have made in-depth preparations to combat the forward's threat.

"We have watched videos of the game and the key to victory for us will be stopping him receiving the ball close to our penalty area.

"If we can stop him our own options soar. We can beat United.

"As far as I am concerned, this match is like the Champions League final itself.

"I see a very attacking game with many goals."

Former teammate Ronaldo has also commented on Rooney's purple patch, saying: "He is sensational at the moment.

"If he carries on like this he will soon be very close to the number of goals I scored."
