German Bundesliga Weekend Preview
Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund will be bidding to gain their first points when they wrap up the second round of matches on Sunday.
Both sides have been busier than the rest of the league this summer due to their Europa League commitments and both lost their opening matches 2-0 last weekend, which is why the heat is already on to get off the mark at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
"My whole team failed to show what they can do against Leverkusen," said Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, whose side made the longest trip in the club's history yesterday by flying over 2,000 miles to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in a Europa League play-off.
Stuttgart coach Christian Gross was equally unimpressed by his side's opening defeat at Mainz.
"I had expected more," the Swiss said.
"I am very disappointed."
Whoever is left the most disappointed on Sunday will probably be looking at the rest of the division from the foot of the table for the next fortnight due to the international break.
Hoffenheim lead the way on goal difference following their 4-1 win over Werder Bremen last Saturday and they travel to St Pauli in an early top-of-the-table clash.
Bremen have put that defeat behind them by reaching the group stages of the Champions League in dramatic fashion on Tuesday.
What was close to becoming a week to forget ended in elation when Markus Rosenberg's goal deep into stoppage time saved them from elimination against Sampdoria in Genoa.
Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs told Press Association Sport that the game had been a true rollercoaster ride of emotions.
"It was incredible," he said. "But that is what makes football so amazing."
They host Cologne on Saturday looking to build upon their win in Italy with their first three points in the league.
Schalke are also on the lookout for their first points as they welcome Hannover to the Arena AufSchalke while Wolfsburg are expected to parade Diego as a new signing at their home game against Mainz.
Elsewhere, Hamburg travel to Eintracht Frankfurt and Nurnberg host Freiburg.
Sunday's other game sees Bayer Leverkusen welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the BayArena.
