Guimaraes strengthened their grip on sixth place in the Portuguese Liga after a 1-0 win at home to Nacional on Friday evening.

Brazilian striker Edgar scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot after 78 minutes.

Nacional could have leapfrogged Guimaraes into sixth place with victory, but instead remain in eighth, now four points behind Friday night's opponents.
