Simeone: Our job is not done yet

Simeone: Our job is not done yet

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone insists their Europa League tie with Lazio is still in the balance despite his side recording a 3-1 win in Thursday's first leg.

Miroslav Klose gave Lazio the lead in the 19th minute but Adrian equalised for the visitors six minutes later, before Radamel Falcao grabbed a brace to help Atletico put one foot into the round-of-16.

However, Simeone believes the Biancocelesti are more than capable of turning the tie around in next week's return leg at the Vicente Calderon, especially considering they'll be getting a couple of key players back.

"We made a huge effort," Simeone said in his post-match press conference. "We knew they were going to be a tough opponent at a difficult venue.

"We must not stop working, because the tie is not closed.

"After their goal, we had the necessary patience. We know that we are playing against a very good club.

"Lazio had several players out today [Thursday], but they will possibly recover in time for the return match."

Simeone will be looking to continue his unbeaten run as Atletico coach on Sunday when they travel to Sporting Gijon in La Liga.
