Kompany: City must maintain form
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany insists his team must maintain their momentum in the title run-in after they easily despatched Blackburn 3-0.
Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko were all on target in a one-sided win at the Etihad Stadium with Blackburn barely mustering a shot on goal.
The result sees City move five points clear at the top of the league with neighbours United playing at Norwich on Sunday.
Kompany though immediately put the result behind him and was adamant City will have to continue in the same vein for the rest of the season.
He told Sky Sports 2:
"There is no such thing as an easy game for us - to win the league we will have to do the same week in week out."
Kompany added: "People say being leader you have the pressure from those behind but I think it is the opposite."
Of the game, the defender said: "We did the right thing, we played in the right manner, the passion was there.
"We were concentrated as well - I think it was the right result."
City manager Roberto Mancini was not looking too far ahead despite his side continuing at the top of the table.
He told Sky Sports 2: "It is important to be there at the end of May."
Of the game, the Italian said: "It was difficult - they had 10 players behind the ball.
"We had a lot of chances to score. In the end it was important we won the game."
Mancini also revealed Yaya Toure may have picked up an injury, saying: "He has a problem in his leg, his muscle. Tomorrow we will see."
Blackburn counterpart Steve Kean highlighted the next few weeks as pivotal in Rovers' survival hopes.
The Ewood Park side will face - among others - Aston Villa, Wolves, Bolton and West Brom.
Kean told Sky Sports 2: "These games are very tough - to come to places like this - but we have a very good spell of games coming up.
"It's a big month: the games we've got (against) teams around us. We feel a bit depleted right now.
"It was important to get through today without any injuries."
Kean also believed his side should have had a penalty shortly after City's opening goal when Morten Gamst Pedersen went down under a Nigel de Jong challenge as he was shaping to shoot.
He said: "I did (think it was a penalty) and I said that to the referee but we respect his decision.
"We felt as though there was contact. But we accept referees can only go with what they see at the time."
