Michel Platini on a mission
UEFA president Michel Platini will use his visit to Euro 2012 co-hosts Poland and Ukraine as a "fact-finding mission".
Platini, who is leading a 10-strong UEFA delegation to the two nations over the next 48 hours, is expected to demand guarantees over the readiness of the main two stadiums for the event - in Warsaw and Kiev.
"This visit is part of a top-level fact-finding mission to Poland and the Ukraine," said the France legend. "We will meet with the countries' leaders and hold discussions with all the relevant bodies in charge of the preparations for UEFA EURO 2012, in order to take stock of the current situation within the two countries."
He added: "A report will then be given to the UEFA executive committee in order that they can fully review the situation in the two countries at our next meeting on 25 and 26 September in Bordeaux."
Platini will hold one-to-one meetings with the presidents and prime ministers of both countries.
The delegation will also have high-level meetings with the two football associations and the ministries and bodies involved in preparing for the European Championships in four years' time.
