Belgium
Club Brugge got their Jupiler League season off to a flying start as they made it three defeats out of three for sorry AFC Tubize.
Brugge, playing their first match of the season against a team contesting their third, eased to a 4-1 win against the league new boys.
Ivan Leko put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after just two minutes while a quickfire brace from Joseph Akpala had Brugge 3-0 ahead inside 18 minutes.
Vincent Ramael pulled one back for the hosts after 72 minutes but substitute Daniel Chavez restored the three-goal cushion nine minutes from time.
Holland
FC Groningen got the new Eredivisie season off to a roaring start as they humiliated 10-man Vitesse Arnhem on Friday.
Sepp De Roover gave Groningen the lead in the 10th minute and a completely one-sided second half saw Koen Van de Laak double the visitors' lead from the spot after Frank van der Struijk was given his marching orders in the 68th minute.
Marcus Berg extended their lead with another penalty five minutes later before Evgeniy Levchenko added a fourth 12 minutes from time.
Turkey
Trabzonspor maintained their perfect start to the Turkish Super Lig season with a 2-1 triumph at Ankaragucu, who remain pointless after two games.
Ibrahima Yattara gave the visitors the lead after 35 minutes and Selcuk Inan doubled their tally three minutes later.
Substitute Leonardo Iglesias netted a consolation for the hosts at the death but it was too little too late.
Portugal
An injury-time equaliser saw Belenenses secure their first point of the Portuguese SuperLiga campaign as they snatched a 2-2 draw against Pacos Ferreira on Friday.
Salazar Jose Pedro gave the hosts the lead in the 32nd minute but substitute William Santos levelled the scores in the 72nd minute.
The Brazilian thought he had snatched all three points when he scored right at the death but Pereira Rodrigo Arroz pounced six minutes into injury-time.
Russia
Russian Premier Liga strugglers FC Khimki and Shinnik Yaroslavl did themselves no favours as their relegation six-pointer ended in stalemate on Friday.
Both clubs, mired at the bottom of the table, were desperate for a rare victory but neither could produce a winning goal.
Rock-bottom Khimki are a point behind Shinnik and three behind third-bottom Luch-Energiya Vladivostok, who have a game in hand.
Ukraine
Denis Oliynyk scored the only goal of the game as Arsenal Kiev clinched an away win against FC Lviv on Friday night.
Oliynyk, who is on loan from Arsenal's city rivals Dinamo, scored after 31 minutes to secure a second win of the season for the visitors.
Lviv remain fourth from bottom and could slip into the relegation zone in the embryonic table when the remainder of the teams play this weekend.
