Ronaldo ready to return

Corinthians have reported that Ronaldo's eagerly-anticipated return to action is about two weeks away.

The former World Player of the Year sustained a serious knee injury in February 2008 while playing for AC Milan and has been sidelined ever since.

He required surgery in an effort to repair a ruptured knee ligament and has faced an arduous route back to full fitness.

He is, however, making good progress in his rehabilitation and is expected to feature for his current employers in the near future.

"It's important for Ronaldo to be with the group," Corinthians coach Mano Menezes said.

"He is becoming fitter and in 15 or 20 days he is going to be playing an official match."

Should Ronaldo suffer no setbacks he could make his debut against Corinthians' biggest rivals Palmeiras on 8th March.

The 32-year-old striker has signed a 12-month deal with the recently promoted side, with that contract set to run until the end of the year.
