Copa Libertadores Preview
A preview of all the Copa Libertadores matches that will be played out in midweek with Boca Juniors in action.
Palmeiras and Colo Colo meet each other in Copa Libertadores action in Sao Paulo tomorrow and the Chileans' striker Lucas Barrios is hopeful to claim their first win in Group One.
Both teams lost their opening games two weeks ago and, while Palmeiras boss Wanderley Luxemburgo is having some problems with injured goalkeeper Marcos, Barrios and company are coming up with strategies to beat the Brazilians.
"We must play like we've been doing," he said.
"We must forget the (2-1 league) defeat at Rangers. Palmeiras are a great team but we'll go for it. I don't think we should play defensively," Barrios told Radio Cooperativa.
Marcos is concerned he will not be fit for Palmeiras and said: "I am feeling some thigh pains. It is uncomfortable, and I don't want to stretch the muscle."
Also tomorrow, Group Six leaders Guadalajara of Mexico travel to Venezuelan side Caracas aiming to continue their unbeaten run.
"The important thing is winning away and keep progressing as a team. Caracas will not be easy to beat at all," Guadalajara defender Aaron Galindo said.
Six-time champions Boca Juniors have a tough trip to Deportivo Tachira of Venezuela, with an 18-hour journey ahead of them containing a number of stops required to arrive in San Cristobal.
Boca boss Carlos Ischia is expected to include Martin Palermo, who became the club's all-time leading goalscorer by netting his 195th goal in a Boca shirt last Sunday.
"The longer I play, the better I'll feel. The team have a lot of things to improve on," said Palermo, who has recently recovered from a serious knee ligament injury.
The reigning champions LDU Quito of Ecuador meet Sport in Brazil as both teams aim for their second victory in Group One.
Also on Wednesday, Universidad de Chile and Aurora of Bolivia will try to celebrate their first win in Group Seven, while another Bolivian team, Universitario, take on Brazilian giants Cruzeiro in Group Five.
San Lorenzo want to repeat the superb form they showed on Sunday when they hammered River Plate 5-1 in the Argentinian league.
On Thursday they visit Paraguayan champions Libertad, who lead Group Eight on six points.
River Plate, meanwhile, will try to rediscover their form by beating Universidad San Martin in Peru in Group Three.
Finally on Thursday, Brazilian three-time league champions Sao Paulo travel to Colombian giants America in Group Four.
