Sriwijaya 2-4 FC Seoul

FC Seoul overcame a second-half wobble to begin their Asian Champions League bid with a Group F win over Sriwijaya at the Jaka Baring Stadium in Palembang.

Kim Chi-woo scored twice, while Jung Jo-gook and substitute Kim Seung-yong also got on the scoresheet as the Koreans fended off a second-half fightback from the hosts, for whom Cameroonian Claude Ngon Djam notched a quickfire brace.

Sriwijaya's evening got off to an inauspicious start as reserve keeper Afriyanto, in for Indonesia international Ferry Rotinsulu, departed injured after just eight minutes following a collision with his own defender Ambrizal, and third-choice Dede Sulaiman entered the fray.

Seoul went in front just after the half-hour mark when Serbian Dejan Damjanovic found Jung following a driving run and the latter calmly finished.

Kim Chi-woo doubled the visitors' advantage just before the hour mark when Lee Chung-yong capitalised on a mistake by Tony Sucpito and fed the midfielder, who beat Sulaiman.

And the Indonesians looked dead and buried when substitute Kim Seung-yong rolled the ball across the face of the six-yard box for Kim to tap home for his second of the game in the 67th minute.

Djam pulled a goal back one minute later with a superbly taken goal as he killed Isnan Ali's long ball over the top stone dead with his first touch before smashing a powerful finish past keeper Kim Ho-jun.

And he gave Sriwijaya hope of a real fightback when the Cameroonian buried a thumping header from Christian Warabai's cross with 17 minutes remaining.

But Kim Seung-yong scored with a free-kick to ultimately seal the points, while Kim Chi-woo almost completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes to go but he hit the post with just the keeper to beat.
