Marseille vs Lyon Preview
Marseille captain Lorik Cana believes his team's big-game mentality will ensure their title bid is not derailed this weekend.
League leaders OM are level on points with Bordeaux heading into the third-to-last weekend of the campaign, with Les Girondins having a chance to strike the first blow when they host Le Mans tonight.
Whatever happens at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, the pressure will be on Marseille to deliver the goods 24 hours later and maintain their push for a first title since 1992.
It is the hardest of their three remaining matches and Cana is bullish about his side's chances of landing a fatal blow to Lyon's hopes of defending their title.'
"We have sometimes had problems at home but against top-class teams, we have always known how to respond," said the Albania midfielder.
"Like against Lyon (3-1) last season and Bordeaux (1-0) this season. In the Champions League, we didn't deserve to lose to Liverpool (1-2), we outclassed PSV Eindhoven (3-0) and we deserved to beat Atletico Madrid (0-0).
"Against the great teams at home, we have produced high-level performances and that gives us confidence ahead of this Lyon match."
Lyon will relinquish the title they have held for the past seven years if they lose tomorrow. Indeed, that may already have happened by kick-off if Bordeaux win tonight.
"For me, Marseille deserve to be champions because they have had this aim from the start, unlike Bordeaux," said Lyon captain Juninho.
He added: "If we keep our Champions League place, it will not be a bad season for us."
Striker Frederic Piquionne (adductors) is the only injury doubt for Lyon, who are a point clear of fourth-placed Paris St Germain heading into this weekend.
With Baky Kone fit after calf trouble, Mamadou Samassa (adductors) is OM's only absentee.
