Andujar excited by Argentina debut

Goakkeeper Mariano Andujar is relishing making his Argentina debut against Colombia in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

Coach Diego Maradona has dropped Juan Pablo Carrizo after he let in six goals in the shock defeat by Bolivia in April.

Andujar, who has been in fine form for Estudiantes in the domestic league, said he is ready to make the step up to the international stage.

"You always have to be ready to play," said the 25-year-old.

"I always work to start even though being here is already an achievement for me. There are few home-based players who can play in the World Cup qualifiers alongside such high-level European-based players.

"I've been dreaming of this moment. You always dream of situations like the one I will be in on Saturday.

"I'm a calm man and I'm focused on these matches because they'll be special. I'll have to enjoy being alongside Maradona and playing the qualifiers in a crowded stadium.

Next Wednesday Argentina travel to Ecuador for the qualifier in Quito, a city 2,850metres above sea level.

"In Quito we'll have to be careful, as always," Andujar added. "I've played in Sucre which is a little higher and I was fine. The problem is how the players who have to run get used to it."
