Gennaro Gattuso in for Azzurri

Gennaro Gattuso has been named in Italy's Confederations Cup squad despite having missed most of the season with a knee injury.

The AC Milan midfielder is in the 23-strong group which will travel to South Africa to take on Brazil, CONCACAF Gold Cup winners the United States and African Cup of Nations champions Egypt.

Eleven of the players in the group were not in Italy's Euro 2008 squad, including Liverpool left-back Andrea Dossena.

Ten of those going to South Africa will be in Marcello Lippi's squad to face Northern Ireland in Saturday's international friendly in Pisa.

Italy will leave for Johannesburg on Sunday.
