Favre commits to Hertha
Hertha Berlin chief Michael Preetz claims he coach Lucien Favre assures he will not walk away from the club.
The Swiss' future has been in doubt recently following the incident which led to former general manager Dieter Hoeness resigning after a decade in his job.
Hoeness' decision to leave came after a difference of opinion between himself, Favre and club president Werner Gegenbauer, but Preetz insists the coach need not follow.
"The important thing for me is what Lucien Favre has told me in private talks and I cannot see any sign that he wants out of his contract in Berlin," Preetz told Kicker magazine.
Rather than considering a parting of ways, Preetz instead revealed Favre may be offered the chance to stay with the club in the long term.
He added: "When you are following a long-term aim, then I feel it is only legitimate to talk about a contract extension."
Favre has been in charge of Hertha for two years and is midway through a four-year contract.
He led them to a fourth-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season after being in the running for the title with two rounds of fixtures remaining.
