Corinthians' Ronaldo raring to go

Ronaldo expects to be fully recovered from injury and a bout of flu to help Corinthians take a convincing lead in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final against Internacional tomorrow.

Ronaldo expects to be fully recovered from injury and a bout of flu to help Corinthians take a convincing lead in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final against Internacional tomorrow.

The three-time FIFA world player of the year played 72 minutes in the goalless league draw with Goias on Sunday after recovering from a shin injury.

"I've had a difficult month because of the injury and flu, as I have had it twice," said Ronaldo.

"On Wednesday, the flu will be cured, so will the injury."

Corinthians coach Mano Menezes added: "We wanted him to play for a little bit longer (on Sunday) so he can gain a better condition.

"I am sure he will be flying on Wednesday.

"If our team pass the ball a lot to Ronaldo, he will surely have more opportunities to finish them with his outstanding quality."

Internacional will be without Andres D'Alessandro, who is suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. He will be replaced by Andrezinho.

Bolivar is suspended while both Kleber and Nilmar are away on international duty with Brazil in the Confederations Cup.

But captain Pablo Guinazu believes his side can cope without the missing players.

"It is quite worrying and sad, because all the players want to be present in these moments, but everybody has already proved to have enough to go onto the field and play well," the Argentinian midfielder said.

"They will give not only 100% but 110% of their strength, I am sure."

The second leg of the final will be played on July 1 in Porto Alegre, with the winners qualifying for next year's Copa Libertadores.
