Sweden kicked off their European Under-21 campaign with a comfortable win as Marcus Berg scored a hat-trick against Belarus.

The Scandinavians had to come from behind for the victory after Sergey Kisliak's shock 32nd-minute opener.

But Rasmus Elm levelled three minutes later before the classy Berg stole the show with three technically accomplished finishes in Malmo. Gustav Svensson added a late fifth.

Belarus took the lead after a low-key opening when Siarhey Krivets laid the ball off to Kisliak, who smashed home a sublime 30-yard shot which Johan Dahlin had little chance of reaching.

Sweden bounced straight back, however, as Elm equalised in the 35th minute.

Berg then got involved in the action and gave his side a two-goal lead before the half was out.

First, the Groningen striker delicately skipped his way through the Belarus defence before steering the ball past Pavel Chesnovsky in the 38 minute.

Then he volleyed Ola Toivonen's pass home to make it 3-1 and seemingly seal the win.

With nine minutes to go he lobbed home to complete his hat-trick after a delightful pass by Toivonen, before Svensson guided a long-range effort home impressively to compound Belarus' misery.
