Fired Klinsmann is still earning
Bayern Munich have revealed they will pay former coach Jurgen Klinsmann until a compensation agreement is reached.
Klinsmann was sacked at the end of April after the home defeat to Schalke, and Bayern have subsequently appointed Louis van Gaal for next season.
"We have not received an agreement and just continue paying his wages," said general manager Uli Hoeness.
Klinsmann's contract has yet to be officially terminated, meaning he could be paid win bonuses even though he no longer has anything to do with the team. If Van Gaal leads Bayern to the Bundesliga title, Klinsmann could be in for a windfall.
However, the 44-year-old would have to terminate his Bayern contract if he took on another coaching job elsewhere - and in that case, no compensation would have to be paid by the Munich club.
Until that happens, Klinsmann will earn up to five million euros a year until his contract expires in 2010.
