Hoffenheim tell Ba he is staying
Hoffenheim have told want-away striker Demba Ba that he will not be going anywhere this summer after holding talks with the player.
The Senegalese forward is trying to force his exit from the Bundesliga club after being attracted by the interest of Stuttgart.
He recently said he is "no longer thinking about Hoffenheim", but he will now have to focus his attention back on them after being reminded of his responsibility to the club, with whom he still has a contract until 2011.
"Demba has realised that it was a mistake to go public (with his views)," said Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick.
"He did also tell us personally of his desire to transfer. But from our side, there is no consideration at all to let him go.
"He plays a key role in our plans."
Ba was summoned for talks with Rangnick and director of sport Jan Schindelmeiser upon his return from his summer holidays yesterday.
After emerging from the meeting, Schindelmeiser reaffirmed his club's stance that the player is going nowhere.
"We are not interested in a transfer of Demba and expect him to respect his contract, which runs until 2011."
Ba will be expected to link up with his team mates at the start of pre-season training next week.
