Marin future still undecided

Germany Under-21 midfielder Marko Marin still does not know whether he will be heading to Werder Bremen next season.

Bremen have been trying to sign the winger since the end of last season and have agreed terms with the player, however they are not willing to pay the transfer fee Gladbach are demanding for the 20-year-old.

Since Marin's contract expires next summer, allowing him to then walk away on a free transfer, Bremen are reluctant to make too big an investment.

And Gladbach have admitted the thought of keeping him one more year, even if they then don't earn a penny from his sale, could pay dividends in terms of income they could potentially earn from more success on the field.

All of this has filtered through to Marin, who is struggling to keep his concentration on the under-21s European Championship in Sweden as a result.

"Of course you hear things from friends and read articles on the internet," he said.

"It's certainly not easy for a player, but I'm trying to block all that out and focus on the European Championship.

"There's nothing I can do about that right now."

New Monchengladbach coach Michael Frontzeck, who led his first training session in charge of the Bundesliga club today, has already said he expects Marin to play for the club next season.
