Westerveld wants Holland move
Sander Westerveld is looking to sign for a Dutch club before the new season as he seeks a return to his homeland.
The 34-year-old currently lives in Mallorca, but following the recent death of his father is looking to return to Holland and be closer to his mother.
Westerveld spent last season at Sparta Rotterdam where his short-term deal expired at the end of the campaign.
He has since returned to Spain, where he has been keeping fit with Real Mallorca, but following his family bereavement has asked his agent to organise a deal to allow him to return home.
"My father recently passed away and I just want to be as close as possible to my mother - and that is in the Netherlands," Westerveld told AD Sportwereld.
"So my agent Henk van Ginkel is looking for a club."
ADO Den Haag are one of the possible destinations for the former Liverpool stopper after their first-choice goalkeeper Robert Zwinkels suffered a knee injury this week that will sideline him for up to six months.
Westerveld, who is married to the daughter of ex-ADO goalkeeper Hennie Ardesch, would welcome such a move, saying: "ADO Den Haag? Such a nice popular club can always call me.
"I am fit and I can start right away. I would like to start soon so that I can and be a part of the pre-season training."
