Schalke to discuss Neuer move

Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies is ready to negotiate the sale of their Germany Under-21 goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich.

While manager Felix Magath recently insisted he had no intention of selling Neuer to his former club, it appears the persistence of Bayern may well pay off as Tonnies revealed the goalkeeper could now go for the right price.

"Of course a transfer is possible - there is always a pain barrier," he told Munich's Tz newspaper.

"If somebody breaks through such a pain barrier, then any good businessman would have to consider it."

Bayern are confident they will be able to pull off a deal for Neuer, although a fee in excess of 20 million euros may be required to tempt Schalke to negotiate.

According to the Tz newspaper, those negotiations are set to take place in Munich this weekend with a view to completing the transfer before Bayern commence pre-season training on July 1.

Neuer is currently taking all the plaudits at the European Under-21 Championships in Sweden where his saves have helped Germany reach the semi-finals.
