Brau predicting tough battle

Arsenal defender Mariano Brau is determined to drag his side away from the foot of the Clausura table.

In the only match of the 19th round to be played this weekend - the rest of the fixtures have been postponed to next weekend due to parliamentary elections - Arsenal will look to improve on their dismal record of 17 points from 18 games.

They are just two points above rock-bottom Argentinos Juniors but Brau knows a win against Independiente will be enough to see them avoid the wooden spoon.

"It will be a very tough game. The two teams have performed poor campaigns and we don't want to finish the tournament at the bottom," said Brau.

Independiente's form has failed to pick up following the arrival of new coach Americo Ruben Gallego with his team just three points better off than their opponents and without an away win all season.

Gallego, who succeeded Miguel Angel Santoro, said: "I want to apologise to the supporters, who have packed every stadium we have played in, as we haven't given anything back.

"I hope next season will be better."
