Duo set up title decider
Union Espanola and Universidad de Chile will contest the Chilean Apertura decider following semi-final triumphs.
Luis Hernan Carvallo's Union Espanola, who had ended the regular tournament on top of the table, needed a penalty shoot-out to beat giants Universidad Catolica.
After the second leg was rescheduled on Sunday due to rain, the teams played out a goalless draw, repeating the result of the first match.
Union Espanola played the last 34 minutes and extra time with 10 men, after midfielder David Ramirez was shown red in the 56th minute for hitting Gary Medel in the face.
Luis Nunez hit his penalty onto the crossbar before Union Espanola keeper Cristian Limenza saved an Ivan Vasquez spot-kick.
Then, Fernando Cordero scored the deciding effort to book the hosts' place in the final for the first time since 2005, when they defeated Coquimbo to win the Apertura.
"I want to celebrate with my team-mates because of our effort. We deserve this. We didn't play well in these two legs, but Catolica failed to score even playing with one more man. I am very happy," Cordero told Canal de Futbol.
Universidad de Chile, meanwhile, booked a place in the title-deciding match by beating Everton 3-1 on Saturday.
Goals from Juan Manuel Olivera, Emilio Hernandez and Jose Contreras made 'La U' advance with a 3-2 aggregate win.
Universidad de Chile are coached by Sergio Markarian, who has already announced he will quit the club after the end of the team's Apertura campaign.
The first leg of the finals will take place on Thursday, before Union Espanola host the second leg on Sunday thanks to their superior campaign in the regular season.
