Paris St Germain captain Claude Makelele has signed a one-year extension to his contract.

Makelele signed a one-year deal when he moved to the capital club from Chelsea last summer and the former France midfielder had no hesitation in renewing his contract as soon as he came back from holiday.

"To extend my stay at PSG was my aim at the end of the season," the 36-year-old told www.psg.fr.

"I went away as if I had already signed.

"I am happy to take this decision and I hope we will have another season full of emotion for the players, the club and the supporters."
