Two bids made for the Toon
Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias has confirmed that two bids have been received for the troubled Magpies.
Llambias informed media sources in the North East that at least two bids matching owner Mike Ashley's asking price of £100 million pounds have been received for the purchase of the club.
Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle Llambias said "There have been more than two bids at £100m.
"At the moment we are in the hands of lawyers and it is all ongoing. We are giving interested parties all the help that they need."
He did not reveal the identity of the bidders, but last week he entertained a Malaysian consortium at the club - showing them around the club's stadium and training facilities.
The Singapore-based Profitable Group, who include former Liverpool and Everton midfielder Steve MacMahon amongst their number, were also reported to have been interested in the club's purchase, though their claim that they had made a bid on Friday has since been denied by the club.Powered by Disqus
