Bordeaux have signed Czech Republic international midfielder Jaroslav Plasil from Osasuna.

The French champions are looking to strengthen ahead of their Ligue 1 title defence next season and Plasil's arrival is a significant step.

The former Monaco favourite, who was a regular in La Liga for Osasuna, has signed a four-year contract.

Plasil said: "We established contact with Bordeaux and everything went fairly quickly.

"I am pleased to have signed for Girondins.

"Last season Bordeaux won the French title and therefore qualified for the Champions League and reaching this competition was very important to me. I will try to help the club achieve its goals and will give my all."
