Jol wants Sulejmani to get fit

Ajax coach Martin Jol has urged record signing Miralem Sulejmani to improve his fitness or risk losing his first-team place.

Jol claims the Serbia forward did not look in his best shape at the recent European Under-21 Championships and has warned the youngster - who moved to Amsterdam last summer for 16million euros - things must change.

"I do find that he has to make his basic condition better," Jol told AT5.

"He of course played some games at the European Under-21 Championships and after that he did nothing for a few weeks.

"I watched him at the Euro tournament and then I also found that he didn't look fit."

Jol added: "If (teenage forward) Marvin Zegelaar, who probably cost a lot less, plays better then he will play more often.

"Sulejmani might need to do more to become fully fit. Then he will be of importance to us - otherwise he isn't."
