Remy set for Nice stay

Loic Remy is set to remain at Nice for at least one more season, despite strong interest from Lyon.

Les Gones sold the forward to Nice last summer for eight million euros but are interested in bringing him back to the Stade Gerland.

The two clubs have been in talks about the possible transfer of Remy, with Lyon left-winger Anthony Mounier included as a potential makeweight in any deal.

But with the clubs differing in their valuations, Nice have opted to end talks.

Nice president Maurice Cohen said: "We have decided firstly to bring an end to discussions concerning Loic, who will stay with us at least for another year.

"And secondly to give up on the idea of signing Anthony Mounier, who wished to join us and with whom we had reached an agreement."

Press reports claim Lyon offered 10million euros plus Mounier for Remy, and that Nice want 6million euros more.

Lyon, who are close to clinching the signing of Porto striker Lisandro Lopez for an initial fee of 24million euros, could now switch their focus to Toulouse frontman Andre-Pierre Gignac.
