Elia out for Hamburg against Randers

Hamburg will be without Eljero Elia for tomorrow's first leg of their Europa League third qualifying-round clash away to Randers.

The 22-year-old Dutchman is likely to be out of action for another three weeks after injuring his knee in training last night.

The absence of the forward for the trip to Denmark is a blow for coach Bruno Labbadia, who knows Randers will be no pushover.

"They are technically good and play attacking football," he told Hamburg's official website.

"It may be a small stadium, but it will be a cauldron of emotion when we play there."

PSV Eindhoven coach Fred Rutten expects his side to have no problem overcoming Bulgarian side Cherno More at home.

"I expect my team to convincingly clear the first hurdle. It would not be very professional to underestimate any opponent, though. We must show maturity," he said on the club website.

The Dutch giants, who endured a season to forget last term, have boosted their squad ahead of the game by signing a Bulgaria international, Stanislav Manolev.

Fulham defender Paul Konchesky knows he and his team-mates are heading into the unknown as they travel to Lithuania to face FK Vetra in Vilnius.

"I've never been out to Lithuania and I don't think many of the other players have either," he told www.fulhamfc.com.

"It's going to be a first for most of the team. It's going to be a hard test as we don't know too much about FK Vetra but when we get out there we'll have videos to watch and a team meeting.

"It doesn't matter who the opposition is, whether it be a non-league team or a Champions League side, you must prepare the same."

Irish outfit St Patrick's will have their work cut out to deal with the threat of giant Czech striker Jan Koller when they face Krylya Sovetov.

Defender Jason Gavin told the official St Patrick's YouTube channel: "He's a good player.

"He's going to be a handful. He's played in the World Cup a lot of times and he's scored a lot of goals in his career."

Italian giants Roma begin their European campaign at home to Belgian side AA Gent, while Christoph Daum will look to get his reign at Fenerbahce off to a successful start when they take on Honved.

Fellow Turkish side Galatasaray are up against Maccabi Netanya.

Elsewhere, Swedish outfit IFK Gothenburg welcome Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Spanish side Athletic Bilbao take on Young Boys of Switzerland and Lille travel to Sevojno.

CSKA Sofia play Derry City, KR Reykjavik host Swiss side Basle, KSP Polonia Warsaw face NAC Breda, Rapid Vienna take on Cypriot side APOP and Steaua Bucharest challenge Motherwell.
