Bierhoff denies Klinsmann talk

Former Germany boss Jurgen Klinsmann is not set to rejoin the national team.

The 45-year-old, who led Germany to the final of their home World Cup, had been linked with a consultancy role in the set-up.

But national team manager Oliver Bierhoff said: "To put it bluntly, there is no formal commitment with Jurgen Klinsmann."

Bierhoff did reveal the team maintains "very, very close links" with Klinsmann and that they "use his footballing knowledge", but flatly denied talk of an official role.

"This is a dead duck," he said.

Germany are now coached by Joachim Low, who was Klinsmann's assistant for their 2006 campaign.

Klinsmann has been out of work since he was sacked by Bayern Munich in April.
