Brazil set to use their own water

Brazil will be in charge of their own water supply ahead of their game at Argentina to avoid contamination of their water supply.

Brazil take on Argentina in a World Cup qualifying game today and the stakes are so high that nothing is being taken for granted.

It was reported that some years ago, Diego Maradona had confessed on Argentine television that during the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Argentina contaminated a Brazilian water bottle with tranquillizers, in order to get an advantage over their opponents on the football field.

Argentina won the match 1-0 and in doing so eliminated Brazil from the tournament. The Argentine Football Association (AFA) have since said that such a thing didn't take place, but the Brazilians still believe it did.

However, Rodrigo Paiva, the leading press officer of the Brazilian Football Association (CBF), denied claims that Brazil were afraid that it could happen again, by affirming that to take one's own water to a match "is something normal. It isn't because it is Argentina."
