Melo: Diego should be in Brazil squad

Brazil international Felipe Melo believes his Juventus teammate Diego should play for the national squad.

Diego has been in outstanding form for the new Serie A season, with UEFA president Michel Platini even commending his recent performance for Juventus.

The 24-year-old, however, has been left out of his national team.

Melo believes Brazil would do well to have him in their midfield, especially with a daunting challenge ahead of them - Argentina.

Speaking to the press, Melo said: "If he played for Brazil then I would be very happy.

"He is a great friend and a great player."

As Brazil face Argentina for their World Cup qualifiers, Melo was quick to play down his opponents' capabilities.

"Argentina are desperate. They have to win or they may not be able to go to the World Cup," Melo said.
