Riveros: Beware wounded Argentina

Paraguay and Chile are hopeful of securing their places at the World Cup finals, but must beat Argentina and Brazil to do so.

With three rounds remaining, the duo are level on 27 points - three below Brazil who booked a berth in South Africa last weekend - and can assure their qualification with victories tomorrow.

Paraguay midfielder Cristian Riveros insists his team should not be overconfident against an Argentina side deflated by Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Brazil.

"They are not fine, but they are dangerous anyway," he said.

"They are Argentina. We must trust in ourselves, work hard and try to beat them."

Chile midfielder Rodrigo Millar reckons his team have a game-plan in place to get the better of the Selecao in Salvador.

"We will head towards the other box," he said. "Against Brazil, it will not be different. We respect them like we respect the other rivals.

"I hope we can clinch the qualification by beating Brazil."

In Montevideo, Uruguay and Colombia are playing a crucial game for both teams.

The Charruas surprisingly lost 1-0 to already-eliminated Peru last weekend and have collected 18 points, two less than Colombia who occupy the play-off position after a 2-0 win over Ecuador.

Uruguay striker Sebastian Abreu said: "It is still up to ourselves. That's the positive thing. But Colombia will not be easy rivals to overcome, not at all.

"They won last weekend and overtook us in the table.

"We should not be as anxious as we were in the Peru match. We must manage anxiety to beat Colombia.

"We won't beat them with guts and strength only, but also by playing good football."

In La Paz, Bolivia, who have little chance to get into the play-off position, play Ecuador, who are level on points with Colombia.

Bolivia coach Erwin Sanchez called said: "We represent a country, our profession. We will keep working and doing our best to advance."

Finally, Venezuela play already-eliminated Peru and coach Cesar Farias is optimistic.

"We are two points below the play-off position. We are still hopeful to qualify," he said.
