Marseille's record signing Lucho Gonzalez is set to make his Ligue 1 debut against Le Mans on Saturday.

The Argentina international, who signed from Porto this summer for 18million euros, has missed the opening four games of the season with a fractured collarbone suffered in pre-season.

But he could return when Marseille travel to Le Mans, and Deschamps admits the team could do with his attacking instincts, having scored just four times this term.

"His absence has been a real blow for us in terms of our attacking potential," Deschamps said on www.ligue1.com.

"I don't want to put too much pressure on him, because even without him there are things we need to improve upon.

"His role will be to be the transition between defence and attack. He will be a very important player for us this season, but he needs to work on his understanding with his team-mates. Given his natural talent, that should be quite quick.

"He will try and make the difference via his skill, by his passes and by the fact that he scores a lot of goals from open play and set pieces."

Marseille lie fifth in the table on eight points, two fewer than leaders Bordeaux, Paris St Germain and Lyon, but twice as many as their opponents this weekend.

PSG will look to maintain their unbeaten start away to Monaco on Sunday. Monaco have lost both of their away matches this season but won their two at home and PSG keeper Gregory Coupet is especially wary of the principality's new signing Eidur Gudjohnsen.

He told www.psg.fr: "They play better at home and so we have to build on our good start to the season and force them to slip up. We'll have to be patient, use our experience and play hard.

"The new signings (Mathieu) Coutadeur and Gudjohnsen certainly give the team a boost.

"Gudjohnsen is a powerful forward who tends to draw defenders to him and that makes space for his team-mates. We have to stay organised and keep our balance."

PSG will be missing striker Mevlut Erding, who has a shoulder problem.

On Saturday, it is top against bottom as Bordeaux host Grenoble, who are still looking for their first point of the campaign.

The signs do not look good for the visitors. Laurent Blanc's men have scored eight times to win their two home games thus far.

Lyon go into their home game with Lorient on the back of three straight wins in the league. The visitors, though, have also started the season impressively and are just three points off top spot.

Montpellier, 3-0 winners away to Nice last time out, host Lens, while Lille go in search of their first win of the campaign at home to Sochaux.

Nancy tackle Toulouse and Valenciennes take on Boulogne-sur-Mer, who have enjoyed a decent start to life in the top flight.

On Sunday, second-bottom Auxerre host Nice and Rennes are up against struggling St Etienne.
