Eredivisie Weekend Preview
Tim de Cler looks set to make his Feyenoord comeback against Eredivisie basement boys RKC Waalwijk at De Kuip on Saturday.
The Holland full-back has found himself benched by Mario Been in recent weeks, but suspensions to Leroy Fer and Denny Landzaat mean the coach has gaps to fill in midfield this weekend.
Giovanni van Bronkhorst will therefore move up the pitch allowing De Cler to slide into his normal position at left-back.
He told www.feyenoord.nl: "I'm really want to do my best and show what I can do. I just want to play a good game.
"I'm not thinking about what happens after RKC. I'm entirely focused on Saturday."
De Cler has warned his team-mates to be aware of the threat posed by RKC, who are bottom of the league with three points from eight games.
"We absolutely must not underestimate them, because they come here with nothing to lose.
"That makes them very dangerous opponents."
AZ Alkmaar midfielder Brett Holman has warned his side's rivals the champions are getting back to their best after a 1-1 draw against Standard Liege.
AZ head into Saturday's game against NAC Breda only sixth in the Eredivisie but Holman was impressed with his side's showing in their midweek Champions League fixture.
He said: "It was like the AZ of old. We were concentrated and kept possession well. Our confidence is returning."
Elsewhere on Saturday, ADO Den Haag host FC Groningen while NEC Nijmegen travel to Willem II.
For ADO, defender Christian Kum should return to the side, but Ahmed Ammi has not recovered sufficiently from a hamstring injury to play.
Groningen coach Ron Jans is without Tom Hiariej, Petter Andersson, Jeffrey Rijsdijk, Morten Nordstrand and Luciano da Silva.
Second bottom Willem II have claimed just three points from their last seven games and will hope for an easier game than he got last week against PSV Eindhoven, a 3-1 reverse which left him purring about the Eredivisie leaders.
"The team exudes tremendous confidence," he said. "They have so much scoring power."
The weekend's fixtures begin tomorrow when Vitesse Arnhem welcome Sparta Rotterdam to the Gelredome.
Both sides are in a clutch of teams in the bottom half of the table on eight points, and Vitesse coach Theo Bos knows tomorrow presents an ideal opportunity to rise up the table.
"If we win we can look up instead of down," he told www.vitesse.nl.
"The differences are so small in this league, but Sparta at home is the sort of game you have to win."
Calvin Jong-a-Pin is again doubtful with a shoulder injury, so Alexander Buttner should continue at left-back.
Jeroen Drost (knee), Ronald Graafland (knee) and Sinan Kaloglu (foot) are all unavailable.
Holland's platoon of Europa League participants return to domestic action on Sunday, with Ajax first to kick off in the day's early game at Roda JC.
It is a daunting task for Roda against a side who have scored 16 goals in their last four league games and have not conceded in 466 minutes of Eredivisie action.
Elsewhere, leaders PSV Eindhoven will follow up their match against Cluj in the Europa league with a trip to FC Utrecht, while FC Twente visit Heracles Almelo.
Also on Sunday, Heerenveen receive a visit from VVV-Venlo.
