Kawasaki hold on in Japan

Kawasaki Frontale held on to edge J.League champions Kashima Antlers 3-2 after completing the final 15 minutes of a match that was abandoned last month due to a waterlogged pitch.

A Jong Tae-se brace and a Juninho strike had put Kawasaki in command in the original match on September 12 with Marquinhos netting for Kashima.

But the referee had to abandon the encounter in the 75th minute as the pitch became like a swamp as monsoon-like conditions swept across the ground.

Kashima made the ideal start today though as Daiki Iwamasa quickly pulled back another goal to ensure a nervy finish.

But Kawasaki held on to secure the three points.
