Lyon vs Sochaux Preview
Lyon are hoping to pick up where they left off as they resume their title push at home to Sochaux tomorrow.
Lyon had won three straight in all competitions, and coach Claude Puel is hoping his team have lost none of their momentum during the disruptive international schedule.
"We know it will be complicated," he said.
"The players who stayed here trained well, but it always seems like a long time for those who stay. Those who have been away need to settle quickly.
"They are very busy both physically and psychologically."
Those players' schedules will not get any easier with a trip to Liverpool in the Champions League coming quickly on the back of this weekend's domestic task.
"We know very well that the best preparation for a game like that which awaits us at Anfield is a good result against Sochaux," Puel added.
Injuries continue to hit Puel's squad, with Jean-Alain Boumsong and Mathieu Bodmer both missing, while Cris and Kim Kallstrom are doubts.
Lisandro Lopez returns, while Nicolas Seguin should also be available.
Lyon face a Sochaux side reeling from the news that striker Charlie Davies suffered career-threatening injuries in a fatal car accident while on international duty with the United States.
Aside from the emotional trauma, Sochaux - struggling with six defeats in their last eight - can barely afford to lose a first-choice player for the rest of the season at least.
"It would have been difficult with Davies, it will be even more difficult without him," said coach Francis Gillot.
"Psychologically, the dressing room is hurt by what happened to Charlie, who is a great guy. We cannot be complete."
Stephane Dalmat and Carlao are also missing, while Ryad Boudebouz is suspended.
However, Vaclav Sverkos is fit to start up front.
