Nice vs Lyon Preview

Lyon boss Claude Puel has told his side to forget about beating Liverpool and remember their defeat by Sochaux.

OL head to struggling Nice tomorrow in buoyant mood having secured a 2-1 Champions League win at Anfield on Tuesday thanks to goals from Maxime Gonalons and Cesar Delgado.

But Puel is keen for his players to keep their feet on the ground.

"Every French team wants to beat us," he told www.olweb.fr. "We have not forgotten what happened against Sochaux.

"After a game like Liverpool there will always be questions about fitness and mentality.

"The championship is our bread and butter. We haven't forgotten that.

"As for Nice, I'm not thinking too much about their situation. They're poorly placed and have nothing to lose against us. We've seen this before in France and in other championships."

Nice defender Onyekachi Apam, whose side are above only pointless Grenoble in the Ligue 1 table, knows team spirit will be crucial if they are to take anything from tomorrow's game.

He told www.ogcnice.com: "All matches are difficult. OL are a very good team and to win Nice will have to show their true spirit."

Apan was impressed by Lyon's performance against Liverpool.

"I'm glad to see them performing at the highest level," he said.

Emerse Fae is banned but Apam and Drissa Diakite return from suspension, while Mickael Pote will miss a month with a stress fracture of the shin.

For Lyon, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (adductor) is doubtful, but Cris, who picked up a knock at Anfield, should be fit to play.

Gonalons will hope his midweek exploits earn him a starting place.
