Arena relieved Becks deal is sorted

Bruce Arena is glad David Beckham's return to AC Milan is out in the open as it means the LA Galaxy can now fully focus on on-field matters.

The Italians announced on Monday the former England captain would return to the San Siro on a six-month loan deal leading up to the 2010 World Cup.

The 34-year-old had been warned by England boss Fabio Capello he needed to remain in top shape by playing at the highest level if he was to make the squad for South Africa.

Arena is relieved the announcement has been made and he can concentrate on Galaxy who face Chivas USA in the second leg of their Western Conference Semi-final Series at the weekend after the first game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Arena told Sky Sports News: "It's been publicised for two months now.

"Our team has been well aware of it but we just want to put that to bed and get it over with.

"We think it's the right thing for David to do given the circumstances with England for the next World Cup and we would rather get that taken care of now and move forward."
